Thinking Space Limited was established in 1996 by its two principals; Sarah Cheeseman, director of Workspace and Howard Carter, Director of Architecture. In this period we have developed into one of the leading young architectural practices within our sector. We have obtained ISO9001 acreditation and we use the discipline it demands to ensure all projects are delivered to meet the highest standards. We now operate our business from premises in Southwark, London, giving us a workspace that reflects the design principals of our company and provides us with the expansion space to meet our ever increasing workload.
Howard Carter MA (arch) dist. RCA RIBA (director of Architecture)
A thorough experience of advanced technology, progressive design and fast track construction was gathered while working for Sir Norman Foster and Partners as architect for the British Rail Station at Stanstead Airport. This experience was extended working for Troughton McAslan on the Dean Street Crossrail Station, the Richard Rogers Partnership on the Terminal 1 extension at Heathrow and for the Jubilee Line Extension Project on Waterloo Station. More recently, as Managing Partner of the Carter Reynolds Partnership, Howard has been responsible for a range of projects including residential and commercial developments, educational and medical buildings, as well as developing a thorough understanding of the complexities of running a medium sized architectural practice and establishing and maintaining a comprehensive client portfolio.
Sarah Cheeseman MA (int. des.) RCA (director of Workspace)
Upon graduating from the RCA Sarah worked for Marketplace Design Partnership and developed an enthusiasm and understanding of the commercial design environment working on a number of fast track exhibition and retail projects. From here a 3 year position with Deacon Edge Interior Designers concentrated on workspace design; including projects such as the refurbishment and redevelopment of the Football Associations Headquarters and the design and refurbishment of the new headquarters building for Business Systems Group.
Sarah then set up and ran a workspace design consultancy with Business Systems Group, in association with Carter Reynolds Partnership. This was a successful business that over a three year period established an impressive track record and client list. This was then developed independently as Thinking Space Limited which she now runs with Howard Carter.
